About Me
Hello, I’m Fiona, founder of Borders Occupational Therapy Limited.
I live in Gattonside in the Scottish Borders with my husband, our two energetic little girls and a menagerie of pets. Outside of work, I love being in the great outdoors and can often be found hiking or running, whatever the weather. When I’m not out in the elements, I’m usually people watching with a vanilla latte in a café or experimenting with the interiors of my house.
I qualified from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2007 with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy with Psychology and Counselling Skills. Since then, I have built a broad and varied career across mental health, dementia care, acute medicine, accident and emergency, orthopaedics, stroke and neurological rehabilitation.
My experience spans busy hospital settings, community services and clinical leadership roles across London, Glasgow and the Scottish Borders, including work with NHS Borders and Scottish Borders Council. This has given me a wide-ranging understanding of how illness, injury, disability, ageing and changes in confidence can affect everyday life.
Borders Occupational Therapy allows me to bring this experience into independent practice, offering practical, personalised and evidence-based support to adults, older adults, families, case managers, employers and other professionals.
I am passionate about helping people find realistic ways to stay safe, independent, confident and connected to the activities that matter most to them. My approach is warm, thoughtful and practical, with recommendations tailored to each person’s individual needs, environment and goals.
As an independent practitioner, I am committed to high-quality practice and ongoing professional development. I regularly build professional networks, attend conferences, contribute to podcasts and remain actively involved in the wider occupational therapy community, including through the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section for Independent Practice.
Alongside occupational therapy assessments, I also offer associate case management support, work-based assessments, professional supervision, teaching and bespoke talks.
I look forward to continuing to grow Borders Occupational Therapy, working collaboratively with clients, families and professionals across the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, the Lothians and wider Scotland.
